The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality crash that occurred Thursday afternoon. A 30-year-old woman from Newton was driving a 2007 Kia Spectra east in the 9200 block of Northwest 12th when her vehicle left the road, struck a tree and landed in West Emma Creek, according to a sheriff’s office release. She was pronounced dead at the scene when first responders arrived. Her name is not being released at this time. The sheriff’s office, Hesston Police Department and Newton Fire/EMS responded to the crash. (The Newton Kansan, Newton Kansas.  January 19, 2017).

A Newton woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash Thursday, authorities said. The 30-year-old woman was driving east on Northwest 12th at about noon when her Kia Spectra left the road and struck a tree in the 9200 block, Harvey County Sheriff Chad Gay said in a statement.The Kia landed in West Emma Creek, Gay said. Amber Schroeder30, passed away Jan. 19, 2017. Amber was born to Michael and Debra (Penner) Goossen in Beatrice, on January 6, 1987. She is survived by her husband, Tyler; her parents; brother, Adam (Nicole) Goossen; grandparents, William (Marilyn) Goossen and maternal grandmother, Ruth Ann Penner. She is preceded in death by grandmother, Mary Goossen and grandfather, Willis Penner.  Visitation will be from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.,, at Cochran Mortuary, 1411 N. Broadway, Wichita, Kan. Services will be at 11:00 a..m., Tuesday, January, 24, at Bethel College Mennonite Church, 2600 College Ave., North Newton, Kan.
