Harvey County Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested.  North Newton police early Tuesday morning arrested a Harvey County Sheriff’s deputy in connection with a criminal threat.  Harvey County says police took Levi Herring into custody a little before 6 a.m. The sheriff’s office didn’t detail the case, but did say Herring is on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing. It says the Harvey County Attorney’s Office would determine if there will be further charges in the case.  North Newton Police Chief Randy Jordan says the threat was made through text message. During a news briefing Tuesday afternoon, neither Jordan, Harvey County Sheriff Chad Gay nor Harvey County Attorney David Yoder disclosed the nature of the threat. They say it’s early in the investigation and want to protect the victim in this case. For now, Gay says Herring is on paid administrative leave. As of Tuesday afternoon, he, remains in the Harvey County Jail. Harvey County says Herring has been with the sheriff’s office for two years. Previously, Herring was an officer for the Park City Police Department.  Harvey County Sheriff’s Office, Newton Kansas.
