Our Old Soldiers - The Burrton Monitor

Peter Carey enlisted as private in Co K 47th Indiana in October 1861, promoted to second Lieutenant, served four years, was in the following engagements: New Madrid, Island No 10, Riddles Point, Mobile, Fort Blakly, Fort Pillow, Brazier City, Manwille, Alexandria, Magnolia Hill, Champion Hills, Jackson, and South Charles.
