Evening Kansan Republican

John Timothy Beans, 86, one of the earliest settlers of Harvey County, died at the home of his daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Yinger on the old farm in Richland township early this morning.

Mr. Beans came to Richland township, Harvey county in 1870 from Maryland, when 9 years old. He made his home with Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Rich, cousins, who were among the earlier pioneers. After their death he acquired their original homestead and lived on the farm until 1909, when he retired and moved into Whitewater.

His wife died in 1943, and he is survived by only one daughter, Mrs. Yinger and family who are now living on the same old farm, one grandson and two granddaughters.

He was a charter member of the Whitewater Federated Church, where funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 by the pastor, Rev. J. D. Schmidt. Burial will be in the Whitewater cemetery with directors of the Smith Mortuary of that city in charge.
