When five years old he came with his parents to Hesston, Kansas, and a few years later to Newton where he lived until his death. On August 14, 1912 he married Charlotte Bourne in Newton. Two children Charles and Kathryn. He had six brothers, Art, Ray, Ollie, Clyde and John and one sister, Mrs. W.S. Gilchrist. He worked for Standard Oil Co. for several years.
