Born in Neuteicherswalde, West Prussia, his parents being John Albert and Catherine Behrend Albrecht. He was the second oldest of four children. On April 6, 1884 he married Wilhelmine Krause. In the same year the migrated to America locating in Newton, Kansas, they had four children. Wilhelmine died on January 15, 1897. On May 9, 1898 he married Susie Toews, she had two children from the previous marriage and had four children with Ferdinand two passed away in infancy.
