Born Oldenburg, Holstein, Germany, March 6, 1846 and died Newton, Kansas , January 10, 1927. He came to America and to Newton, Kansas in March of 1882, he lived here until his death. November 13, 1874 he married Margaret Stahl, they had ten children, six preceded him in death, five died in infancy. Those living at the time of his death, Henry, William and Bernhard. He entered the service of the Santa Fe railroad,March 3, 1882, and worked for them until his retirement almost forty years.
