Janzen, Arthur & Malinda - 70th Wedding Anniversary

Arthur and Malinda Janzen of Hesston will be honored for their 70th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. May 25 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

Arthur Janzen and Malinda Schmidt were married May 29, 1938, at Lehigh Mennonite Church.

Arthur has worked on a dairy farm in Canton, farmed in Lehigh, worked at Klassen Ford Garage in Goessel and moved to Hesston in 1942, which is where he is most known. He was a mechanic for Belgard International Harvester, King Motor Co. and Yoder Ford. He co-owned J and S Auto Repair and was a volunteer with the Hesston Fire Department for 31 years.

They both owned and operated the Village Motel for 10 years, starting in 1962. Early retirement years were spent camping, fishing, traveling and spending time with family. They now reside at Schowalter Villa.

Hosts for the occasion are Don and Judy Hess (daughter) and Lavonne Janzen (daughter-in-law).

Children are Ray Janzen (deceased), Judy Hess of Greeley, Colo., and Jim Janzen (deceased).

The couple has 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
