Burrton Boy In Hun Prison Pen

The Newton Kansan 14 Dec 1918

In a published list of December 5, 1918, it is stated that Carl L. Jewell is a prisoner in an unknown German camp. He has relatives and friends here who will be interested in learning when he returns to the custom and treatment of prisoners of war by that country. As they have as a nation made a "disavowal of civilization" it would be foolish to believe their treatment of prisoners has not transcended international custom and agreement in any case.
