Letters Failed To Reach Newton Boy

01 Feb 1919

Mrs. Julian Brown was made very happy Friday on receiving a letter from her son, Howard Biersbach, from whom she had not heard since November 1918. She had written letters repeatedly, had written to the commanding officer of her son's regiment, and made every effort to locate him. The letter dated December 12 tells of him being in the army of occupation on the Rhine. He stated that he had not received any mail from home folk since landing on foreign soil. He was in a company of snipers and thinks that his being changed from place to place frequently may account for not having received his mail.
