Frederick “Fritz” Joseph Volk, 85, passed away on Nov. 24, 2010, in Newton.

Fred was born on Nov. 5, 1925, at the family home in Glendale, Wis. Fritz enjoyed many outdoor activities: fishing, hunting and camping. He spent many years with his son and relatives deer hunting at the hunting shack in Hurley, Wis. He always enjoyed a good or bad day fishing Wisconsin lakes or with friends on Lake Michigan. He was employed as a heavy-equipment operator with the Village of Fox Point, Wis., and was a volunteer fire fighter for the Glendale Fire Department in Wisconsin.

He was united in marriage to Sophronia Spratz on July 5, 1952, in Waukegan, Ill. Together, they made their home in Glendale and later Brown Deer. They moved to Kewaskum in 2002. He lived in Newton for the past four years.

He is survived by his son, James (Marilyn) Volk of Newton; daughter, Pamela (Peter) Kandziora of Germantown, Wis.; grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, Bryce and Rachel Volk; Tyler Kandziora; great-grandchildren Nathan and Jenna Volk; sister, Evelyn Miller of Racine; and cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Viola (nee Bock); wife, Sophronia (nee Spratz) on Feb. 12, 2005; sisters, Dorothy Leggett, Marion Theama, Jennie Mae Hall Post and infant sister Audrey.
