Robert J Jones

R.J. Jones, one of the newly elected members of the city council, handed in his resignation at the first meeting of the new council, held last Thursday evening.

Mr. Jones had no desire to serve on the city council and stated before the election that he would not serve if elected, and though he received more votes than any other candidate, he made good his word to resign at the first opportunity. Charles Howard has been appointed to fill the vacancy.

Besides the regular committee assignments, Mayor Boyle made the following appointment: Clerk Owen Jones; Treasurer, S.M. Sholl; and Marshall, D.B. Shinn.
