Oral Preston Williams was born October 18, 1868 in Eclectic, Elmore Co., Alabama and died in October 1895 at Halstead, Kansas. He was one of the prominent young farmers of Lakin township. He died at his home Wednesday morniing after an illness of aabout two weeks with typhoid fever.

He was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends who were shocked to learn of his death. He was about 30 years of age and leaves a wife, Myrtle, who was the daughter of John and Phoebe Piper. He is also survived by his parents, William Lafayette and Virginia Ann Barnett Williams and several brothers and sisters. The funeral was held at the family home in Lakin township.
