Corkill, Cora

Cora Alice Dodson Dorkill was born to Charles Frederick and Elizabeth Francis Frye Dodson om August 8, 1880 on a farm 3 1/2 miles south of Halsteaad. She spend her childhood in the community of the Bell Schoolhouse, which was 5 miles south of Halstead.

She married James Edward Corkill on January 4, 1898. In 1901 they moved to a farm southwest of Sedgwick where they lived for 52 years. Here they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1948. They united with the Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church in the early years of their marriage and both held memberships there for the remainder of their lives.

Cora was in failing health for the last 8 years of her life and the last 20 months of her life was spent living with her daughter, Gladys Allen in Sedgwick. She was a devont student of the Bible, a conscientious Christian, a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was deaf for many years before she died.

Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at Sedgwick, Kansas.
