Hanselman, Nancy

Burrton Monitor

The community was pained last Wednesday by the announcement of the death of Mrs. Nancy Hanselman. Mrs. Hanselman had fought the disease which has hoovered over her so long, for many days, but at last, her excessive weakness rendered her unable to longer cope with it.

Nancy Thorn was born near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on the 15th day of August 1836. When about 12 years of age, she removed with her parents to near Wheeling, West Virginia and after to Indiana and Ohio. She was married in Lexington, West Virginia in 1856 to David Hanselman with whom she removed to Kansas in 1871 and settled on their farm southwest of Burrton. She joined the Christian Church in 1866 at Mellville, Ohio and has since lived a Christian life. Being one of the oldest settlers here, she was widely known and greataly estemed. She was, to her husband, a most affectionate wife, to her children a most kind and good mother, and to her relatives and friends, a loving, kind and faithful friend. The Monitor and the community extend their heartful sympathy of the bereaved family.

Drs Hamilton and Entz held a post-mortum examination over the remains of Mrs. Hanselman last Wednesday at 6 o'clock and found that "Serrihus of the stomach" with complications of the liver to be the cause of her death.
