Dolores C (Custer) Chesky

Dolores C. "Dee" Chesky, 74, Halstead, died March 14, 2001 at her home. She was born October 5, 1926 in Wichita, the daughter of Roy and Leah Quiring Custer. She was a graduate from Wichita North High Wchool in 1944 and received her BA degree from the University of Kansas in 1948.

She married Victor E. Chesky Jr. in 1947 and they moved to Halstead in 1950, living first in town and then moving to their farm west of town. She and her husband were active in the Halstead community and Wichita Collegiate School, Wichita. She was a longtime member of Chapter AK, PEO, and a past president of the Halstead chapter. She was a charter member of the Halstead Hospital Auxiliary which organized in November 1957. She served as president in 1964 and 1965 and was a member of the board. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority alumni association, the Wichita-Sedgwick Historical Museum and the University of Kansas alummni association. She was a strong supporter of her husband's work in the Kansas Arabian Horse Assoc. as well as his Halstead insurance agency/

Survivors: three sons, Victor Chesky, III, Hunt, Texas; Bill Chesky, Gilbert, Arizona and Eric Chesky, St. Helena, California; sister, Lucille Crandall, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Jane Welch of Halstead,and sister-in-law Mary Custer, Wichita; and five grandchildren.

Services were held at the First United Methodist Church with burial in Halstead Cemetery.
