Obituary

Benjamin Robert Bockhaus was born February 13, 1893 near Parkston, South Dakota and passed away May 31, 1966 at Bethel Hospital in Newton, Kansas. His parents were William Bockhaus and Emilie Falk Bockhaus.

In March 1903 the family came to Kansas and settled on a farm northwest of Halstead. He was baptized in infancy and attended Trinity Methodist Church. He graduated from Harmony school and had one year of high school. After receiving his dischaarge from World War I, he went to what is now Kansas State at Manhattan.

He married Lena W. Wyss on December 23, 1920 in Wichita. They made their home on a farm southeast of Halstead. She preceded him in death on February 20, 1954. He was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by the widow, Ola of Newton, one sister, Frances Penner of Burrton and two brothers, Walter of Halstead and Albert of Newton.

Funeral services will be held June 3 at Kaufman Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Andrews officiating. Burial will take place in the Halstead cemetery.
