Doris Lorene (Benbrook) Gray

Doris L. Gray, 71, Newton, a former Halstead resident and sister of Jimmie Benbrook, Halstead, died June 4, 2000 at Newton Medical Center. She was born September 27, 1928 at Kaw City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Howard T. and Ruth A. Calvert Benbrook. She graduated from Halstead High School in 1946. She retired from Harvey District Court in 1991 and was a volunteer at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was a member of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, Newton, where she served on the board of trustees and was a clerk of sessions. She married Robert E. Gray at Newton. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Larry Gray, Wichita and Garry Gray, Newton; brother, Howard Benbrook, Jr., Hutchinson; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Koehn. Services were Wednesday, June 7, at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Keazirian. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton. Petersen Funeral Home Newton, was in charge of arrangements.
