Obituary

Vera Colleen Berger, 64, Burrton, died Friday March 2, 2001 at Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita. She was born February 11, 1937 at Macksville, the daughter of Raymond Bartlett and Dorothy Miller Bartlett Meade. Her mother survives of Canton.

On January 4, 1959 she married Stanley Berger in Halstead. He survives of the home. She attended school in Macksville until her third year of high school and then transferred to Burrton, where she graduated in 1955. She then attended Halstead School of Nursing, graduating in 1958.

She was a health care administrator at Presbyterian Manor, Newton and also was previously employed at Halstead Hospital, Halstead; Axtel Hospital, Newton; and she was school nurse at Burrton Unified School District for 23 years. She also taught in-service classes for nursing homes at Hutchinson Junior College and C. and A Classes and Med-Aid classes for five years. She also had worked for five years at Kidron Bethel as administrator for health care.

Her favorite past time was nature walks and helping others who were less fortunate then herself.

Other survivors include; her mother of Canton; three sons, Randy Berger, Grapevine, Texas; David Berger, Wichita; and Andrew Berger of the home; a brother, Ronald Bartlett, Lake Havasu, Arizona; sister, Clera Clarkson, Canton; and one granddaughter, Katie Berger, Grapevine, ?Texas.

Services were held March 6, 2001 at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center. The services were officiated by Pastor Bob Berger, a brother-in-law from Trinity Center, California. The family will have a private interment.
