Marceline "Marcy" Wendling, 85, Halsted, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at Newton Medical Center. She had been a Halstead resident since 1944.

Mrs. Wendling was born May 18, 1918 at Nekoma, Kansas, the daughter of William P. and Rosa Marak Moran. She was a graduate of McCracker High School in 1935 and Marymount College in 1939. She was a homemaker and worked as a dietitian at Oklahoma City, Nebraska City and at the Halstead Hospital.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead and the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She was a CCD teacher at the church. She was a member of the Halstead Hospital Auxiliary; the American Legion Auxiliary of Ruth-Wilson American Legion Post 231; Lakin Happy Homemakers, E.H.U., and Helianthos, all of Halstead and the Harvey County Home- Ec Club. She was a 4-H leader for the Halstead Go-Getters. She and her husband were king and queen of the 2000 Old Settlers Celebration.

She married Eugene Wendling, November 6, 1946 at McCracken. Her husband survives. Other survivers: two sons and their wives, David and Nina Wendling and William and Marilyn Wendling, all of Halstead; two daughters and their husbands, Jean Anne and Greg Gleason, Halstead and Mary and Jerry Klutzke, Wichita; brother, William J. Moran, McCracken; three sisters, Mary Ann Moran, McCracken, Jean Moran, Shawnee Mission, Kansas and Rita Pumilia, Danville, California; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her paarents and two brothers, James C. Moran and Vincent Moran.

The rosary was said Friday, June 6 and the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 7, both at the church. Rosary was conducted by Father Thomas Wai, Father Francis Cox, Father Doug Campbell and Father Eugene P. Kenny for the funeral Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
