Empress G. Rose, 87, Newton, the mother of Tom Rose of Halstead, died January 6, 1992 at Newton Medical Center. Mrs. Rose was born March 21, 1904 at Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of Thomas J. and Effie Brinley Tedlock. A Newton resident since 1917, she was a homemaker. On June 16, 1929 she married Vernon Rose of Newton. He died January 11, 1969.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, a past president of the Progressie Women's Club, a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks Auxiliary and a lifetime membere of the PTA, all of Newton.

Other survivors include a sister, Evelyn Voth, Renton, Washington, three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Services were held Monday afternoon at Petersen's Funeral H ome Chapel, Newton. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
