Robert Joseph Hanley, 62, Halstead, died Saturday, May 7, 1994 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born April 5, 1932 at Detroit, the son of Robert and Margaret Klingman Hanley. A Halstead resident for 34 years, he was a retired elementary school math teacher for USD 440, Halstead.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post No. 231, both at Halstead, the Halstad-Burrton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1824 and was vice president of the Halstad Senior Citizens Center. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

On May 15, 1955, he married Twila M. Ragland at Hutchinson. She survives: other survivors include four sons, Charles Robert Hanley, Mexico; Thomas James Hanley, Independence, Missouri; William Walter Hanley, Newton and John Douglas Hanley, Wichita; two brothers, George Hanley and Sam Hanley, both of Detroit; three sisters, Muriel Hachnel, Dover City, Florida; Nancy Elias, Detroit; and Margaret Peterson, Warne, North Carolina; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral was Wednesday, May 11 at the First United Methodist Church, Halstad, with the Rev. James Mardock preesiding. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
