Alvin Herzfeld

Alvin "Whitie" Herzfeld, 64, Halstad, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994 at the Halstead Hospital. He was born March 20,1930 at Mankato, the son of George Henry and Bertha Zurfluh Herzfeld. A long time Halstead resident, he was a retired maintenance employee of the City of Halstead.

He was a member of Ruth-Wilson American Legion Post 231, Halstead and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

survivors: two sons, Winston Herzfeld, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Shawn Herzfeld, Indiana; five brothers, George Herzfeld, Halstead, John Herzfeld and Ernest Herzfeld, both of Belleville; Frank Herzfeld, Milford, Nebraska and Walter Herzfeld, Haysville; four sisters, Molly Longacre, Chandler, Arizona; Mary Roop, Chester, Nebraska; Pauline Fry, Springfield, Missouri and Lillian Toms, Martinburg, West Virginia; 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Herman and three sisters, Dorothy, Doris and Martha.

Funeral service was Friday, May 13, at Grace Mennonite Church, rural Halstead. Burial was in the Halstead cemetery.
