Orville Louise Eshelman, 94, of Newton, died June 23, 2009, in wichita. He was born on a farm northeast of Sedgwick on Aug. 21, 1914, to Alice (Bradley) and Harry G. Eshelman. He married Lucille Foster of Newton on March 20, 1939. The recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He was deacon an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Newton and a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He farmed newar Sedgwick during his early years of marriage. He later became a carpenter and a general foreman for Morris L.stauffer construction, a custom builder of exclusive homes in the Wichita area. He was known by family, friends and co-workers as a very hard worker and a creative problem solver. He took up golf in his retirement years and enjoyed it greatly. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; one brother, Kermit of Salisbury, N.C.; two sons, Jon (Judy) of Tulsa, Okla., and David of Wichita; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by father and mother, two brothers, Harry and Keith, and a sister Ruby Eshelman. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Memorials may be given to the First Prebyterian Church Endowment Fund or Bou Scout Troop Number 124 at the First Presbyterian Church of Newton.
