Ramiro M. "Ronnie" Montano, 49, Newton, father of Bradley Conrady of Sedgwick, died September 7, 2002 at Via Christi Regional Hospital in Wichita. He was born February 27, 1953 at Newton, son of Ramiro and Margaret K. Sauceda Montano. After his graduation from Newton High School in 1971, he worked as an engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 23 years. During his tenure, he also worked as a state inspector for KDOT. He graduated from Wichita State University in 1993 and from Washburn School of Law in September 1999, with his law degree. He volunteered his legal expertise with Cornerstone Law Office in Newton.

He belonged to the American Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Association. He was an accomplished musician, playing trumpet for more than 40 years. He played for several bands and once organized his own Ronnie Montano Band. The lst band he played with was the Allanza Band.

On September 8, 2001 he married Judy K. Akins at Newton. Survivors besides his wife are another son, Maurice Montano, Newton; his parents, of Newton; three brothers, Richard Montano, Topeka and Alfred Montano and Gilbert Montano, both of Newton; sister, Alice Montano, Andover and 3 grandchildren.

Services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Newton, conducted by Father Floyd McKinney with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton.
