Abrahams, Adaline

The Newton Kansan

Adaline R. Abrahams, 96, of Newton, died on Saturday (March 3, 2012) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

She was born on June 6, 1915, in Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Peter K. and Millicent Measer Funk. The family moved to a farm near Goessel when she was an infant. Adaline graduated from Goessel High School. During World War II she worked at the tent factory in Newton. She married Edward Allen Abrahams on Oct. 2, 1945, in Newton. Adaline enjoyed the nearly 10 years she worked at Hehr International assembling windows for mobile homes, until retiring.

Survivors include two sons, Barry Abrahams of Newton and Allen Abrahams of Oviedo, Fla.; one daughter, Treva Brunner of Newton; one brother, Howard Funk of Texas; one sister, Zella White of San Bernadino, Calif.; four grandchildren, Kim Giesen, Sean Brunner, Taisha Abrahams and Stephanie Bortz; and five great-grandchildren. Adaline was preceded in death by her parents; husband on April 7, 1991; and one brother, Marion Funk.

Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (March 6)at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will receive friends between 6:30 and 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday (March 7) at Grace Community Church in Newton. Interment will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory. Memorials have been established with World Impact and also Youth Horizons. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114. Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home of Newton.
