Engine Struck Him
G H Judd Killed In The Yards This Morning.
Unfortunate Man Was Crossing the Track Near the Oil House When Tender of No. 1204 Struck Him

G. H. Judd, a late resident of this city was struck by an engine this morning and so seriously hurt that he did not rally and died two hours after the injury. He was on his way to his home on East Fifth street and had walked along the station platform as far as the oil house when he stepped off just as engine No. 1204 came along and was struck by it, cutting off his right arm just below the elbow, laying open the scalp and injuring him internally through the chest. The Santa Fe physician was called and summoning another doctor worked hard to save his life but to no avail and the end came about eleven o’clock this morning. Mr. Judd is a man sixty-five years old and lived with his wife at what is known as the Horan place on East Fifth street which they bought last May moving here in July. He was at one time a resident of Lyons county but came here from California. He has a son living in California, one in Emporia, and one in Leoti besides three daughters. The death is to be greatly deplored and it does not seem that the cause for it can be laid at any one’s door.
