Albin, Harley

Harvey County Independent

Harley W. Albin, 82, died September 2, 2006 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitatiion. He was born July 4, 1924 in Norwich to Harley Chester and Florence Mae Graves Albin.

He married Marcene C. Phillips in Newton on January 7, 1953. She survives.

He graduated from Norwich High School in 1942. He served in the Navy during World War II and after his discharge finished college and graduated from Wichita University in 1950. He moved to Newton and was employed by Kansas Gas and Electric for 43 years, retiting in 1989.

He belonged to First United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Newton Masonic Lodge, all in Newton.

He ejoyed hunting and sports, specifically baseball and golf. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Other survivors: sons, Gary (Lesa) of Andover and Mark (Amy) of Moundridge and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin sons, Dwight and Duane.

Services were held at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
