Bertha R Briseno

Bertha R. Briseno, 67, died May 16, 2006 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice/St. Francis in Wichita. She was born July 4, 1938 to Carmen and Frances Porras Garnica Sr. They preceded her in death. She attended school in the Newton School system. She maried Guadalupe M. Briseno in Newton at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. They were married nearly 50 years. He survives of Newton. She was a volunteer for RSVP of Newton for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Other survivors: daughters, Esperanza "Hope" Briseno Burkett and Andrea Briseno, both of Newton; sons, Benjamin Briseno of Newton; Charles Briseno of Dodge City and Guadalupe Briseno Jr. of Augusta; sister, Maria Jaso of Colorado; brothers, John Garnica R., California; Victor Garnica Sr. Newton; Julian Garnica, Wichita; Carmen Barnica Jr. of Colorado; Jessie; Barnica, Halstead; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchidren. A brother Jack Garnica preceded her in death. Services were held May 18 at the Church with Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
