Richard D. Wiley, 87, Jefferson City, Missouri, former longtime resident of Sedgwick died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the Hospice of Jefferson City Friendship House.

He was born March 17, 1919 in Sedgwick, son of the later Albert and Mabel Dosien Wiley. He was a graduate of Sedgwick High School in 1937.

He married Betty Lou Aldridge in 1942 who preceded him in death in 1960. In 1965 he was married to Betty J. Rampy, who survives at the home.

Mr. Wiley was postmaster and a rural letter carrier for United States Postal Service in Sedgwick for 30 years until his retirement on Octobe 30, 1970. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II.

He was a member of the Catholic Church and attended the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City. He enjoyed playing golf, working in the yard and bowling.

He is also survived by two sons; Richard Scott Wiley, Wichita; Doug Wiley (Debbie), Wichita; three step-sons; Dr. Terry Nold, wife, Roxanne, of Jefferson City, Missouri; Randy Nold, wife Cindy, Buena Vista, Colorado and Mark Nold, wife, Maria, of Chesapeake, Virginia; one sister, Leah McFadden, Seattle Washington; 11 grandchildren and 113 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; Albert Wiley, Bill Wiley and Harold Wiley and two sisters, Mary Stamm and Ruth Bailey.

A private Mass was planned for the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City, Missosuri. A graveside ceremony will be at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick on Friday, September 29.
