Mildred F McLean
Mildred F McLean, 88, of Newton, died Thursday (Dec 31, 1998) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
McLean was a cashier at the Ashlock Market, which became Farrell's Market and then Gillespie's Market. She worked at all three.
McLean was born Nov. 11, 1910, in Stafford to H. A. and Cora Hathaway Bartlett. She married Everett J Allen on Aug. 8, 1928, in Texhoma, Okla. He died July 21, 1957. She married Frank McLean on Sept. 28, 1963. He died in 1988.
She was a member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton, the Bridge Builders Sunday School Class of the church, Piece Maker Quilters and the Extension Unit, all of Newton. She was a cooking leader in 4-H.
Survivors include a son, James R Allen of Salina; two daughters, Nadine Elaine Sauerwein of Newton and Beverly Ann Stackhouse of Pennsacola, Fla.; a brother, Kay Bartlett of Big Springs, Texas; 11 grandchildren ans 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Trinity Heights with the Rev. Don Swender officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
