Helen H. Manaes, 78, died on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Newton Medical Center. She was born March 8, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas to Frank Nelson and Elveta Harriett Thompson Jordan. On September 13, 1953 whe married James W. Manes in Wichita and he survives of the home.
Helen was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Newton. She was a former supervisor of the teen and youth department in the church. Helen also was a Girl Scout Leader. She worked as a secretary for the Penn Mutual Insurance Co. and for the president of the Halstead State Bank. She was an office managaer and bookkeeper for her husband at Bud and Steve's in Newton. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and reading. Helen enjoyed sending time with her loving family and many friends.
She is survived by her husband, James of the home; son, James David and wife, Ellen of Homewood, Illinois; daughters Judith Kay (Patrick) Weyrauch of Manhattan and Patricia Ann (Randall) Turner of Hutchinson; brother, John Jordon of Colorado; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lois Carpenter.
Services were held Thursday, September 27 at First Church of the Nazarene in Newton. Burial was in Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton.
