Obituary

   Samuel Akins was born in Chester Co., Pennsulvania on the 16th of September 1826.  He married Susan Walker in 1847.  From this union sprung a family of 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls.  The family moved to Illinois in 1856.  After 14 yeaars, three daughters were laid to rest there, they moved to Kansas locating on the present homestead in the spring of 71.  January 6, 1872 the partner of his joys and sorrows passed away in the firm belief in the joys of the future.  In the year of 87 Mr. Akins embraced religion and has since tried to live nearer God each day.

   He died suddenly, being found dead in bed Tueday morning, June 23, 1891, age 64 years, 9 months, 7 days.
