Body With Head Crushed Found; No Murder Clew
WICHITA, Feb. 19. With his head crushed from blows inflicted with the heavy iron axle of a motor car, the dead body of a man, identified as Otis B. Lantis, 39 years old, who roomed at a local hotel here, was found Sunday morning in a bed in the corner of the garage, of which he was part owner.
The body, lying in a pool of blood, the face covered by the bed clothing, was found by Dr. C. E. Anderson and S. C. White of Sterling, Kan. They went to the garage for Dr. Anderson's motor car, left there Saturday night. They immediately notified the police.
An investigation Sunday by local police failed to develop any definite clue as to the motive for the murder, or who are implicated in it, according to Chief of Detectives Ziekefoose.
