Edith E. Prosser

HESSTON -- Edith E. Prosser, 97, died Thursday (April 30, 1998) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

She was born June 29, 1900, in Latham to Edward Prosser and Rhoda (Bogue) Prosser.

She lived in Latham until 1920 and was a graduate of Latham High School. She also was a graduate and an assistant to the registrar of Southwestern College in Winfield. She received her master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo., and taught in high schools in Pawnee Rock, Arma, Girard, Cherokee, Fulton and Galena. She taught for a total of 32 years, retiring in 1956. She was a resident of Winfield for 50 years moving to Hesston in 1970.

Survivors include one nephew, Wes Prosser of Sherrard, Ill.; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley Prosser.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston with the Rev. Ron Rich from Hesston United Methodist Church and Chaplain Mary Dyck of Schowalter Villa officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Latham Cemetery in Latham. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Schowalter Villa in care of the funeral home.
