Arthur L. 'Alex' Alexander Sr.
Arthur L. "Alex" Alexander
Sr., 63, 606 E. First, died Sunday (Nov. 15, 1998) at Via Christi
Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus.
He was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Oxford,
Pa., to John Turner Wolfe and Gladys Alexander. He married Sylvia
Kelley. They divorced. He married Joyce Maberry in Newton. She
survives of Newton.
He was a member of the Harvest Church
of God in Newton. He served in the Air Force as an engine technician
from 1953 to 1963.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing and
singing. He sung with many groups and was part of a local group of
singers known as the "Plain Truth."
Other survivors include: three sons,
Arthur Alexander Jr. of Dallas, Eric Alexander of Colorado Springs,
Colo., and Jonathan Alexander of Newton; three daughters, Cynthia
Doyle of Austin, Texas, Millicent R. James of Newton and Arthia L.
Dupree of Wichita; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his parents.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael P.
Heinen from Harvest Church of God officiating. Burial will be in the
Restlawn Gardens of Memory. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Petersen
Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with
Harvest Church of God and Heartland Pregnancy Care Center in care of
the funeral home.
