Hulda Frey

Hulda Frey, 89, 115 West Ninth, former sales clerk for Montgomery Ward, died Wednesday (Sept. 1, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born May 24, 1910, in Saracuse to Peter and Mary (Schmidt) Dyck. She married Armand Frey June 4, 1931, in Goessel. He preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1983.

She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton and American Business Women's Association. She moved to Newton from Wichita in 1962. She enjoyed needlepoint, tole painting, walking and coffee with friends.

Survivors include: one son, Ralph Frey of Newton; one daughter, Sandra Tuttle of Newton; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Pat Lynch; three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church with the Rev. Clarence Rempel officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Central Homecare and Hospice in care of the funeral home.
