James 'Jim' Daniel Rutschman

James "Jim" Daniel Rutschman, 80, died today (Jan. 21, 2000) at his residence in North Newton.

He was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Newton to Fred A. and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Ewy) Rutschman. He married Charlotte Leap May 14, 1944, in Furley. She survives of North Newton.

He was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. He owned and operated Guest House Restaurant, food service in the Ramada Inn and Kentucky Fried Chicken, all of Newton. He served four years in Civilian Public Service.

He enjoyed fishing, cooking and the outdoors.

Other survivors include: one son, Roger Rutschman of Newton; one brother, Willard Rutschman of San Marcus, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel College Mennonite Church. Graveside services and burial will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with the Revs. Steve Yoder and Norma Johnson from Bethel College Mennonite Church officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Kidron Bethel Village or Central Homecare and Hospice in care of the funeral home.
