Fast, Viola

Viola Lucille Fast, 93, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation, Halstead.

She was born Nov. 26, 1920, at Hillsboro, to Pete G. and Lucretia (Holdeman) Hiebert.  She was a Halstead Hospital nurse aide, homemaker and member of Grace Church of God In Christ Mennonite Church, Halstead. On Oct. 31, 1948, she married Clifford Fast at Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death May 14, 1983.

Survivors include son: Woody (Shirley) Fast, Hazel, Kentucky; daughters: Wilda (Marlo) Becker, Halstead, Dona (Wilbur) Wiggers, Grifton, North Carolina, Jeanie (Dwight) Mayeske, Fredonia, Ruth (Barry) Unruh, Columbus, Mississippi, Rhonda (Jesse) Koehn, Tonasket, Washington, Marla (Galen) Friesen, Halstead; brothers: Byron (Louise) Hiebert, El Campo, Texas, Melvin (Hilda) Hiebert, Walnut Hill, Florida; sisters: Myra Street, Dayton, Texas, Esther (Henry) Penner, Nevada, Missouri, and Merita (Willard) Koehn, Pearce, Arizona; 22 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by an infant son: John; grandchildren: Lamar Koehn and Tamara McDermed; great-grandson: Lamar Mayeske; and sister: Zelda Havlik.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, and funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, both at Grace Church of God In Christ Mennonite Church, Halstead. Ministers Raleigh Koehn, Marlin Unruh, Kenneth Smith and Dean Becker will officiate. Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery, Halstead.  Arrangements by Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.  Memorials may be given to Halstead Health & Rehabilitation, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
