Arthur J. Dyck, 96, North Newton, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, January 9, 2015.

Art was born to Frank and Martha (Buerki) Dyck near Elbing, Kansas. He attended District 85 School. He was an avid bowler and received the Hall of Fame Bowling Award in 1995. He was also a clever poet and often wrote poems on request for special events. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Air Force as a supply clerk and German language interpreter. Before entering the service, he supervised a raw materials and stock department for Beech Aircraft Company.

He and his wife Margaret (nee Haley), were long time farmers in northwest Butler County. He retired from farming in 1974, and moved to North Newton where he worked for the Newton John Deere dealership and also worked independently for neighbors cutting lawns and gardening. He most recently lived in Wichita, with his daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Ron Benton, and was cared for by grandson, Randy Benton and his wife Denice, who all survive.

Others survivors include his wife of 75 years Margaret; Carolyn Rae Flaming and her husband Jerry of Rockford, Illinois; grandsons: Rob Benton and wife Lynda of Flemington, NJ; Brent Flaming and wife Peggy of Rockford, IL; and Chad Flaming of Rockford, IL; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2015 at Swiss Family Life Center in Whitewater. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the Swiss Church of Whitewater. A private interment will be in the Swiss Cemetery. Memorial Funds have been established for Ponca Bible Camp or Swiss Church in care of Lamb Funeral Home, 120 S. Main, Whitewater, KS, 67154.
