Cecilia (Werline) Balthrop passed away
June 25, 2015 in North Newton, Kansas. She was born December 31, 1908 in Elwood, Indiana, to Mary
and Charles Werline.
Cecilia and Carmack Balthrop met in
Elwood, Indiana. Carmack refused to give up his pursuit and
eventually won Cecilia over. They were married in 1932, and three
children were born from their union John, Bill and Virginia. Cecilia
was a 4-H mom, all of her children participated in 4-H. On the family
farm she raised chickens and turkeys, and kept the farm books.
Cecilia loved to cook, especially baking and was well known for her
angel food cake and fried chicken. Her fried chicken could not be
topped in her grandkids opinion!
She is survived by sons, John and Lois
Balthrop, Bill and Carole Blair; daughter Virginia Mink; six
grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son in law Bill Mink, four sisters and three brothers.
A graveside service will be held at
Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita Kansas on Tuesday June 30, 2015 at 11:00
AM. Memorials may be made to Guadalupe Clinic of Wichita. Petersen Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
