Obituary

Bertha K. Friesen, 94, died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Asbury Park, Newton.

She was born May 28, 1920, at Goessel to Peter R. and Anna (Reimer) Quiring.

She was a graduate of Goessel High School and Halstead School of Nursing.

Upon completion of her course work, she continued working at Halstead Hospital and after her retirement became a crossing guard near South Breeze Elementary in Newton. She was a member of Kingdom Life Ministries, Hesston.

On Aug. 10, 1945, she married Harlan Roy Friesen at Goessel. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1986.

Survivors include sons: John (Lillian Thompson) Friesen, Newton, David Friesen, Halstead; daughter: Jean Friesen, Newton; and a sister: Ruth Boese, North Newton.

She was preceded in death by brothers: Ernest and Otto Quiring; sisters: Edna Schmidt, Martha Wedel and Hilda Ratzlaff.

Viewing will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.

Committal services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Halstead Cemetery, Halstead.

A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Kingdom Life Ministries, Hesston, with Pastor Don Sauerwein officiating.

Memorials may be given to Kingdom Life Ministries in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
