Obituary: Darlene Lois Koehn

MOUNDRIDGE — Darlene Lois Koehn was born a mile north of Moundridge to Lewis M. and Malinda (Unruh) Koehn on July 14, 1937. She lived in Moundridge all of her life until her health failed and she went to live in Asbury Park Green House in Newton, where she left this life on Sunday (Sept. 9, 2012). She graduated from Moundridge High School in 1955. Her parents preceded her in death. She was an independent woman and made her life working for Moundridge Hatchery, Moundridge Telephone Company and Pyle Construction Co., from which she retired when her health failed. She left to mourn her siblings, Stan and Evelyn Graber Koehn of Wichita, Gladys and Pete Bouncci of Lake City, Minn., Bud and Vera Schmidt Koehn of Maize, Mary and Ken Schlup of Newton, and Lewis Lee Koehn and Richard of Olympia, Wash.; nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own, Linda, Tom, Peter, Brad, Bobbye, Brian, Kenneth and Susan and their mates and children; her school mates and lifetime friends, Arlene, Beverly and Iris and their mates; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Moundridge Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the First Mennonite Church Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Asbury Park or KPTS, in care of the funeral home.
