Obituary

Edythe I. Entz, 95, died Saturday (March 25, 2017) at Kidron Bethel Healthcare in North Newton. She was born Feb. 18, 1922, in McPherson, to Helmut J. and Martha A. (Krehbiel) Wedel. On Feb. 11, 1982, she married Walter B. Entz in Newton. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2003.

Edythe was a graduate of McPherson High School and a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. She loved to cook and was a creative seamstress, making many garments without the use of patterns. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing hymns in the evening. Edythe was a lady of great faith, studied the scriptures and looked forward to discussing God's word with her friends and family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was happy to be in the company of her family and many friends.

Edythe is survived by her son, Robert (Glenna Sue) Graber of Newton; daughter, Jocelyn (Jerry) Kasitz; step-daughter, Gwen (Don) Peterson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and brother, Arlyn (Twila) Wedel of McPherson. She is also survived by four grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepson, Merle Walters; brothers, Waldo and Ben Wedel; and sisters, Laura Schrag, Agnes Goering and Ruth Schrag.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday (April 1, 2017) at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton, with Pastor Dawn Yoder-Harms presiding. A committal service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday (March 31, 2017) at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Harrah's Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society or Kidron Bethel Village, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
