Obituary

Robert E. Conner, 53, died on Sunday (Oct. 9, 2011) in Newton.

He was born on Aug. 17, 1958, in Huntington Park, Calif., the son of Arlen and Barbara Dietz Conner. He graduated from high school in Fullerton, Calif.

Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1976 until 1980, moving to El Dorado shortly after that. He married Pamela K. Hayes on June 9, 1985. They lived in Florence and Newton.

He had worked as a lead-man for the Coleman Co. for several years.

Survivors include his wife Pamela of Newton; adopted son Jedidiah Hays of Newton; stepdaughter Angela Baker of Wichita; grandson Kevin Baker of Newton; father Arlen Conner; brothers Richard and Mark Conner; and sister Doreen Nash, all of Fullerton, Calif.

Robert was preceded in death his mother; sons Scott, Carl and Robert; and stepson Brian Gross.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
