Obituary

J. Adolph "Bud" Ziser, 88, retired Koch Industries senior vice-president of exploration died on Monday (Oct. 24, 2011) at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on May 10, 1923, in Glendale, Calif., to Joseph Adolph and Aileen (Headley) Ziser. A Newton resident for three years, he formerly resided in Wichita and Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and treasurer and was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.

On July 10, 1945, he married his high school sweetheart Dorothy May Larsen in Denver. They were married 56 years and had three children. She proceeded him in death on Feb. 3, 2001. He then married Peggy Sue Boten on April 6, 2002, in Osage Beach, Mo. She survives in Newton.

Other survivors include a son, Mark (Pam) Ziser; daughter, Cathy (Bill) Williams; grandchildren, Mike (Andrea) Ziser, David Ziser and Erin (David) Graver; and great-grandchildren, Haley and Brett Ziser and Dorothea Graver, all of Wichita.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Ziser, on Sept. 19, 1994. and a sister, Hazel Gilbert.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Newton. The Rev. James Anderson will preside.

Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home of Halstead.
