Obituary

Jack O. Brooks, 91, former pharmacist for Hertzler Clinic and Halstead Hospital, died Tuesday (Aug. 15, 2017) at Via Christi Cornerstone, Wichita.

He was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Winfield to Lewis J. and Marie (Gessler) Brooks.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a graduate of the University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead.

On Sept. 19, 1960, he married Teresa A. Smithhisler in Anthony; she survives of Halstead. Other survivors include son, Christopher "Jedd" (Linda) Brooks, Ft. Worth, Texas; a daughter, Amy (Mark) Brooks-Counts, Ft. Worth; brother, Kenneth (Bitzie) Brooks, Denver; and grandchildren: Cassidy, Jackson and Carson Brooks-Counts and Parker Brooks.

He was preceded in death by infant sons, Christopher and Paul; and a brother, James.

The Rosary will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 19, 2017), with the Mass of the Christian Burial to follow, both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead, with Father Jeffery Fasching officiating. Inurnment will follow at Halstead Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Caring Hearts Fund in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
