Obituary

Donald E. Holderfield, 68, died Saturday (Aug. 26, 2017) at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. He was born March 18, 1949, in Pitcher, Oklahoma, to Jack D. and Lucy (Tabor) Holderfield.

Donald was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served during the Vietnam War in military supply. In addition to serving in Vietnam, he also served in Germany for many years and Panama.

In his retirement, he worked with his brother in construction and roofing. He enjoyed football and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Donald was a loving and caring father and friend. He gave freely of his time and talent to make sure those he cared about were taken care of. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Donald is survived by his sons, Donald "Dee" Holderfield of Whitewater, Wisconsin, and Jonathan Holderfield of Walton; daughters, Angela Watson of Augusta and Amanda Forgie of Newton; brother, David Holderfield of Newton; half brother, Jack Holderfield Jr. of Salem, Oregon; and sisters, Carole Stidham of Phoenix and Jackie Burwell of Potwin. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Janis Davis.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 29, 2017) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Gary Bell presiding. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m., Monday (Aug. 28, 2017), with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Walton Cemetery.
