GREENWOOD COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities are searching for the driver who struck and killed a man doing truck repairs along a Greenwood County road.

State troopers say Mark Makovec of Chanute, 45, was changing a flat left rear tire around 12:15 a.m. Friday along U.S. 400, one mile west of Severy. He was struck by what a Highway Patrol report calls an unknown truck.

The death is considered a hit-and-run collision. There was no word of any arrests Friday morning.

The Patrol said the vehicle may have minimal damage, but it could have green fabric or fibers from the victim's clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call (620) 431-2100.

State troopers confirm the wreck occurred northwest of Severy. Greenwood County Sheriff's Officers indicated it happened in the area where K-99 merges with U.S. 400. K-99 was blocked in both directions, while authorities handled the situation.
