Rhoda Crupper Thomas

Rhoda M. Crupper Thomas died on Tuesday (Oct. 7, 2008) at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. She was born on Oct. 25, 1914, in McPherson to David G. and Minnie L. (Anderson) Burk. On Aug. 29, 1937, Rhoda married Joe F. Crupper in Hutchinson. He died on Sept. 23, 1966. On July 12, 1969, she married Glen O. Thomas. He died on Dec. 19, 1992. Rhoda was a member of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church in Newton for more than 60 years. She had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them.  

She is survived by three sons and their wives; Michael and Becky Crupper, Newton, James and Judith Crupper, Gilbert, Ariz., and Phillip and Trudy Crupper, Sugar Land, Texas; a brother, Wesley and his wife Nadine, McPherson; a step-son, Lee Thomas; a step-daughter, Kay Krueger; six grandchildren, Michelle and R. Bruce Daise, Shawnee, Jason and Marie Crupper, Kansas City, Mo., Lori and Scott Murray, Mesa, Ariz., Todd Crupper, Gilbert, Ariz., Jeffrey and Monica Crupper, Clearwater, Fla., and Angela and Mike Leising, Crosby, Texas; six step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Rhoda was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, two brothers, DeLee Burk and Robert Burk, a sister, Lois Blasiar; and step-son, Richard Thomas.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church in Newton. Pastor Paul Wissink will preside.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, Harry Hynes Hospice or Presbyterian Manor in care of the funeral home.
